Blog - Portraiture Photographic Sessions

This coming Saturday, June 14, Tony Holden and I were due to get married.  February time, my Dad was admitted to hospital with an infection related to his ongoing battle with pancreatic cancer.  It scared me so much that he might not be  healthy enough to attend our wedding in June, that we decided to have a Commitment Ceremony at his favourite place on March 22. Our closest family witnessed our exchange of vows, whilst the sun set on Moffat Beach. This day was absolutely perfect, and my Dad was in the greatest spirits.   As I write this post, my Dad is again is hospital with little chance of being discharged by Saturday. I am so grateful for this wonderful day.

I love a challenge! There is nothing quite like a family contacting you for a Portrait Session with pets.  I love having pets involved in a session as they are such an integral part of families.  Having said all of that, it is not an easy task.  As well as patience and skill, there is a whole heap of luck involved in capturing children and animals.  Lucky for me, I nailed these cheeky little guys right at home with the rest of the family.  So So sweet:)

Most of you know the story, though I shall tell it for those who don’t.  We head out to Boonah (an hour from Brisbane) with my folks to check out a wedding venue, and stop for a coffee on the way home, 3.00pm.   Tone reads the paper, Suz has a look at the shops.  Suz looks through the properties thinking ‘if there is one here that catches my eye, it is a sign’.  Suz thinks ‘I guess we need to try it on to make sure it doesn’t fit, then we can move on’.  We call the Agent who agrees to meet us at the property , and we head back towards Boonah.  We take Woolooman Rd, which turns into a dirt road, and stumble upon this little gem in all it’s glory.  Still thinking (or hoping) ‘we are not going to like it in side, we peruse each of the bedrooms, 2 family rooms and 2 bathrooms.  The renovation has been so beautifully done, and the most amazing light streams through the windows.  We were both in love. We came home and over a glass of wine did some decision making.  In our true philosophical form, we both decided if it was meant to be, it will be.

We settled a couple of weeks ago, and now she is all ours.  Her name is Mitford, and she has so much potential for all sorts of projects that we have planned. Unfortunately, we have to lease her out for a bit, whilst we make plans to move to the country.  Stay tuned!

I always jump at the opportunity to shoot a wedding outside the Brisbane CBD.  This stunning wedding was no exception.  Set in the lush country side in Northern NSW, the Woodenbong Golf Club has rolling hills a plenty. Lauren and Dave opted for stylish Marquee wedding with approx 70 guests.  Whilst guests feasted on canapés, Lauren and Dave, their Bridal Party of 10, plus little old me, headed off on for Artistic images.  Following a very ‘colourful’ location shoot, it was back to the Golf Club to join the guests….but not before our final couple images on sunset – bellisimo!!!!  Thanks so much for the privilege Lauren and Dave:)

Kitty and Eric had their 3rd Pre Wedding session, and this time they decided they would like it to be in Brisbane City.  The idea behind this is so that when they head back to China for the ‘real’ wedding, they will be able to show a slideshow of images from the city in which they live.  I am absolutely honoured to have captured Kitty and Eric 3 times and for the images to be showcased in China.  Thank you so much for the opportunity. xxx PINIMAGE
