Blog - Portraiture Photographic Sessions

So, it’s been a while between drinks.  We moved house (800 metres down the road, in Mt Gravatt East) , my internet took AGES to come back up and we have been unpacking.  Add to that 2 weekends away (Byron Bay and Jimbour) and a whole heap of amazing families to post, and it all gets put in the ‘Too hard basket”.  I figured then, that I would share something a bit different.  One of our weekends away, we headed out west, via a derelict  town called Acland.  In it’s time, Acland was a mining town, though now left as a ghost town…..which makes for pretty cool images:)

My significant birthday was marked with a photo shoot from SOUL Photographic Design. I gave Suzanne a brief of a casual family photographic session at Southbank and I wanted a few couples shots and some various group shots in and around “The Green” at Southbank. Suzanne had done her homework and sorted out a few locations within 100 metres and we walk, sauntered and generally meandered around the area with easy and Suzanne gave us a few directional queues but all in all we did our own thing and the photos that were taken were absolutely fantastic. I have worked in advertising for over 10 years and photography has been a part of my job so I feel qualified in saying her work is top quality as well as her professional manner leaves nothing to chance. Be assured if you are thinking of getting a photographer for your special occasion you will not be disappointed with choosing Soul Photographic Design and having Suzanne photograph your event. As we all know you only get one chance at getting those shots on the day and I can’t recommend Suzanne highly enough but in the end her work is what speaks the loudest and in her case it is shouting.

A couple of months ago, I had an email from a very distressed bride, who had wedding photographs taken 12 months ago, and was so very disappointed in them. She felt that the images did not portray the location as they were really flat and lacked ‘something’. There were also lots of distracting things left in the images such as fishing lines and people. The thought was that perhaps if she put the images to a slideshow with music, they might look better and she would be happier with them. My immediate reaction was something like – how bad can they be?? Well, the comparison is below. The image needed to be straightened, the fishing lines edited out, colour, contrast, saturation, removal of dust, nips and tucks, and a touch of skin softening. I think you will agree that the adjustments make a big difference. The distressed bride is now a very happy bride:) I am so pleased that I could make you smile xxx
Image editing is a service that we offer for those times when your images are missing that little ‘something’. Check out the rest of the images in the slideshow that produced many long awaited happy tears:)

Wedding is the most important day in everyone’s life. Photographs acts as memories and a road to relive that moment again 10years or may be 20 years down the line. But if the wedding photographs don’t turn out to be as expected then it would ruin the moment as well as the memories. But thanks to your service of Image editing it would be possible for couples to have some of the best photographs of their weddings and would bring smile on the face of many couples. Keep up this good work and keep spreading smiles.
Cheers!!

Meet Kitty and Eric!  These guys came to see me at the Tarragindi Studio and asked me about Pre-Wedding Photography.  What I thought was going to be a Couple Session ended up being a 3 part series of spending time with these gorgeous people! So, Kitty (Ye Hong) and Eric ( Wei Dong) are having a large wedding in China in October. As they are currently living in beautiful Brisbane, they wanted to take over a set of amazing images showcasing Queensland.  We decided to shoot the City of Brisbane just before dusk, so that we could get some amazing backlit images, as well as sunset images and city light images.  As well, Eric and Kitty wanted to show family and friends in China what our incredible beaches look like.  Hence, we will also shoot at Gold Coast – probably around Southport Spit area, just behind Marina Mirage.

Then Kitty and Eric made another decision to have an official marriage service right here in the Brisbane Registry Office in George Street!  Moreover, this is the first session of three and I think you can see we are in for lots of fun:)  Congratulations Mr and Mrs Dong, on your official exchanging of vows in Brisbane.  I am absolutely honoured to be part of your exciting 3 part event!!! …….I wish I could come to China too.. hehe:) See you in August for Part 2. xx

Every year, hundreds of images are submitted by Professional Photographers all over Australia.  Last weekend, the Queensland Division of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography held the Epson Professional Photography Awards.  I am super excited to announce that one of my images achieved a Silver Award.  So very happy:)

Many thanks to these amazing brave women who entertained my crazy ideas.
